Saelis Documentation
Saelis is a metaprotocol for programmable onchain data, built on Elysium.
Its fundamental primitive, the Sigil, introduces a modular approach to representing and connecting information onchain.
One piece at a time.
The data primitive, its identity, metadata and relationships.
Layers, lifecycle and the puzzle model of composition.

Every Sigil is a piece of something greater
Saelis treats onchain data the way a puzzle treats its pieces. A single Sigil is meaningful on its own: it has an identity, a structure and an author. Its larger value comes from how it fits with others.
- A Sigil is an individual piece of structured data.
- Sigils can reference one another.
- Related Sigils can form assemblies: larger structures such as collections, documents or application state.
- Standards define how particular categories of Sigils are interpreted, for example the proposed fungible asset standard, ELC-20.
Saelis is an open, extensible metaprotocol. It is not an NFT collection or a token launcher, and a Sigil is not necessarily a token or a tradable asset.
Project status
Saelis is under active development. These documents describe the intended architecture so that the design can be reviewed, discussed and refined in public.
