Definitions of the terms used throughout the Saelis documentation.

Saelis terms

TermDefinition
SaelisThe metaprotocol and its ecosystem.
SigilThe individual protocol data unit: a structured, identifiable record published on Elysium and interpreted under Saelis rules. Plural: Sigils.
PieceThe conceptual role of a Sigil as a building block of something larger.
EnvelopeThe standard-independent part of a Sigil: protocol identifier, version, standard, metadata, references and body.
BodyThe standard-specific content of a Sigil.
ReferenceA directional relationship declared by one Sigil toward an earlier Sigil. Proposed.
AssemblyA logical composition of related Sigils, reconstructed by indexers. Proposed.
StandardA ruleset that interprets a category of Sigils, such as ELC-20.
ELC-20The proposed fungible asset standard for Sigils. Draft.
IndexerSoftware that discovers, orders and validates Sigils and computes derived state.
TransportThe mechanism used to publish Sigil records onchain. Undecided.
PositionA Sigil's place in canonical order: block number, transaction index and intra-transaction index.
CreatorThe account that signed the transaction publishing a Sigil.
HolderThe account a standard considers to control a Sigil's state.
CandidateA record that parses as an envelope but has not yet been validated.

Chain and ecosystem terms

TermDefinition
ElysiumKinetiq's high-performance EVM Layer 2 for the Hyperliquid ecosystem, built on Arbitrum Orbit.
KinetiqThe team building Elysium, also known for liquid staking on Hyperliquid.
HYPEHyperliquid's native asset and Elysium's native gas token.
HyperEVMHyperliquid's EVM environment, to which Elysium settles.
HyperCoreHyperliquid's core execution layer, hosting its order books.
Arbitrum OrbitA framework for launching chains on the Arbitrum Nitro stack.
ArbOSThe Arbitrum operating system that executes Orbit chains.
AnyTrustA data availability mode in which a committee stores transaction data and posts a certificate to the parent chain.
SequencerThe node that orders transactions into blocks.
FinalityThe point after which a block can no longer be reorganized.
ReorganizationReplacement of one or more recent blocks with a different history.

General terms

TermDefinition
MetaprotocolA set of rules for interpreting data recorded by an underlying blockchain, without changing that chain's consensus rules.
InscriptionData attached to blockchain transactions and given meaning by offchain indexers. The conceptual inspiration for Sigils.
CalldataThe input data of an EVM transaction.
EIP-1193The standard JavaScript interface for Ethereum providers in wallets.
EIP-3085The wallet_addEthereumChain method for adding networks to wallets.
EIP-6963A standard for discovering multiple injected wallet providers.
viemA TypeScript interface for Ethereum-compatible chains, used in these docs.
